Art rock for misfits who love harmony since ’02.

Beloved Binge–a duo playing indie rock rooted in a post-punk art pot since ’02–is releasing one track a month from their 7th studio album Godwit starting November 14th 2024.

Beloved Binge just released the first two tracks from their forthcoming album Godwit in Athens, Greece (migrated via Philly via NYC via Durham via Seattle). The duo features Rob Beloved (guitar, low vocals) and Eleni Binge (drums, higher vocals, keys) creating indie rock rooted in a DIY post-punk art pot (with a hint of old Greek mountain village uprising).

Drawing from early immersion in classical music, music comedy, Metallica, Velvet Underground, Dio, and Greek folk,   Beloved and Binge, in their 23 year career, have lived in a VW Westfalia camper van for a year while touring the US, toured Europe with backpacks on buses and rails, and played a SXSW film release for the world’s original rapper.

(The New York Times shared their story).

Godwit (12 tracks released monthly from 11/14/24 – 11/6/25), the seventh Beloved Binge record, is named after one of the great migrators, the Bar-tailed Godwit, flying 6,800 miles. While flying, the bird absorbs parts of its organs (liver, kidney, and digestive tract) in a process called autophagy (“self-eating” in Greek). Their heart grows to provide extra energy and oxygen.

Godwit explores whether we tiny creatures navigating a world beyond our control can (rather than devouring the world for pleasure) find internal sustenance to sustain our individual and collective migrations? Will you grow your heart for art?

The songs, a partial love letter and mourning dirge to nature (yes, including humans) were written in the USA and Greece.

White Light / White Heat

“Giving the vivid impression of two people who enjoy each other making amiably spontaneous, frugal and bubbly indie pop tunes nestled in DIY and Lo-Fi aesthetics, filled with driving rhythms, energetic jangling guitars, and drifting dual vocal blending in charming lighthearted, wide-eyed harmonies, with Rob’s gravelly deep delivery reminiscent of Calvin Johnson.”

2019 Release, Signals

On their new LP Signals, Philly’s Beloved Binge (via NYC via Durham via Seattle) is an art-pop duo featuring Rob Beloved (guitar, low-voice, drums) and Eleni Binge (drums, high-voice, guitar, bouzouki, bass uke, keys, license plate) creating rubble pop rooted in a punk pot with a hint of old Greek mountain village uprising.

Drawing from early immersion in classical music, music comedy, Metallica, Velvet Underground, and Greek folk, and funded from the happy performance of some stock in the Beyond Meat company, Beloved and Binge have taken their “tiny house” ethos to heart, paring down their instrumentation and lives. In their 17 year career they have lived in a VW Westfalia camper van for a year while touring the US, toured Europe with backpacks on a Megabus, and played a SXSW film release for the world’s original rapper.

Signals (10/11/19), the sixth Beloved Binge record, is partly a reflection on the bands brief time as residents of New York; aging and living in an indifferent concrete anonymity that, through becoming “safe”, became soulless and sterile. On this newest LP the band grapple with profoundly serious issues – early death of loved ones (Departures II) including their 17-year old tour companion Syba (Departures I), border and body policy and human’s relationship to the animals they consume (NeWest) – with characteristic playfulness. Beyond this, they showcase the power of the absurd to help transcend despair.
